Wow, that was a lot harder than I thought it was going to be. Even though I am new (back into after long lapse) diving, I thought it would be easier from a shallow depth.

I tried from a 25' platform, in an effort to start off slow and be safe. Now, I am a non smoker, non drinker, and a jogger. My resting heart rate is less than 60.

But I was totally out of air when I hit the surface. The next time I'm going to try it without doing the safety stop.

I hope he is not serious.....:rofl3: :rofl3:

Yeah, you got me on that. I was already formulating my reply when I can to the last sentence and realized I'd been had.

Actually, when I was but a lad and learned to dive, they taught a thing called "blow 'n go", and we were taught to flare out for the final 15' of the ascent and slow down, doing a kind of mini safety stop.

Sorry, guys, I don't know how this thought came to me. When it did, I couldn't resist. But if you just picture it...

Next time be neutral and swimming, much as you would probably be when diffuculty came about. A few upward kicks to awaken Boyes law and blow & go. Your computer should have a CESA mode to determine the appropriate safety stop,

Pete
