Thanks for the sound, logical advice. My Ebay puchase came in a few days ago and are they SWEET! Turns out, after a lengthy email conversation with the seller, that the first stage and octopus have only 4 dives on them. The second stage has never been used. The seller was getting rid of this stuff because her husband could no longer dive for health reasons and they were trying to get rid of recently purchased stuff.
Incidently, the seller was also a rescue diver for Florida search and rescue. She said she wouldn't dare sell anything that would kill another diver as she has pulled numerous dead divers off the bottom of the ocean and doesn't want to be the cause of another dead diver.
You are of course right. The dive shop will do a vague test on the regs, so I will have to do a few test dives with my buddy in a controlled environment to make sure they are O.K. before going off into the great blue unknown with them.
The regs are spotless, and I mean spotless! Breathes great, no corrosion, no cracks, no scratches, no visable deterioration on the diaphragm or any other rubber parts and no leaks. Not even a tooth-mark on the mouthpiece. They look brand new, and even nicer than my current ones that I cherish and take so good care of.
The only problem I could see was that they reeked like cigars. Downright smelly the moment I opened up the box. Too bad Americans cannot get good Cuban cigars like the rest of the world. They might have smelled better then.

I'm new at u.w. photography, so the pix I do have are inadequate and poor. But when I get access to a scanner, I'll post some of them for you, so long as you aren't too critical. They are all wrecks anyway. There is nothing else of interest in the Great Lakes where I dive except abnormally large Gobi, nasty zebra mussel infestations and occasionally some wierd gooey chemical blobs on the bottom of the channels.

I think you will like the 380 I started with one and now use the 250 only because of the price when getting the mk20 for Nitrox. I find the 380 to be lighter and breathes just as easy as the 250. The differences are that there is no piston like the 250 for adjusting sens. but I never really found a need for adj.

Good Luck and Enjoy
