Several months ago, I had some emails going back and forth with someone at DUI but nothing came out of it, and with what has happened with the company in the last year, I have doubts about getting the suit “fixed”. Now my question is what to do... do I try to get a better credit out of them than their Trade in/trade up program offers? Do I try to sell it to somebody who will probably need to immediately change the socks on it (I have big feet) and buy something else?
Well, as the gambler says, you read 'em and weep.
That is, you get another suit, knowing that your choices for what to do with your old suit are 1) keep it for warm water dives, 2) try sell it for 25 cents on the dollar, or 3) trade it in for pennies on the dollar.
Or you play silly buggers with their warranty department. Who knows, maybe you'll get satisfaction. I doubt it.
Why didn't you complain about it then? I am certain that it would have been resolved satisfactorily if it happened when it should have happened.
I can sympathize with his situation. The problem is that, then, he was getting bad advice that the suit was fine, and didn't know any better that the fit was wrong.
I am hard to fit. I have purchased, over the years, suits, shoes, and shirts that didn't fit, for a variety of reasons involving wishful thinking on my part and effective salesmanship by the floor staff. And, in some cases, well-intentioned bad advice from friends.
At this point, I am a complete ass about stuff fitting, and often end up walking out of a store because nothing they have will fit me.
What has happened with DUI that would effect your issue here?
There has been a management change. I understand that it is the current DUI management's position that this has not had any effect on product quality or service. Some people disagree. I have no opinion.
We are talking about a four year old issue that you are bring up now, correct? Seriously? Am I missing something here?
DUI has a seven-year warranty against defects in materials and workmanship. For a custom-made suit, I would see a defect in fit as a defect in workmanship.
Whether or not the OP will find the game to be worth the candle is quite another question.[/quote]
