Chankanaab Park has disappeared.

What do you mean disappeared? Is the damage just to the botanical gardens or the whole complex, what happened to the dolphins and sea lions? Has anyone heard of what happened to the Presidente? I was thinking of Cozumel as a possibility trip for April, does this change anything, or will things be back to normal by then?

:::sigh:::

I'm going to take the chance that this is not a troll and answer you.

I would bet that in the SIX months between now and April, things will pretty much be back to normal...at least enough to have a lovely dive vacation in Cozumel. Please go ahead and feel free to schedule your trip.

However, I would humbly suggest that two days after the strongest hurricane on record has left the vicinity is not the time to do so. People have just gotten out of their boarded up houses, don't have electricity for lights, air conditioning, computers for reservation systems or to charge cell phones, nor do they have telephones to answer your calls, so if you'd be so kind as to give them a couple of weeks to get things sorted out, I'm sure they'd be more than happy to take your reservation for a vacation in six months.

Tourism is the life's blood of Cozumel and they'll certainly be working at top speed to restore things as quickly as possible to get things to a level to welcome tourists back ASAP.

C'mon people, wait for electricty to be restored at least! I'm sure the first thing these hotels and dive ops are gonna do is send out a mass emailing to their client base and update their websites.

Even Dave from Aldora, who has been very positive, and suffered very little damage to his boats, office, and villas, is looking at mid-November at the earliest for receiving tourists. www.aldora.com Look at his most recent update.
