I have a "possible" advantage...I'm in Okinawa Japan. I say possible because some things over this way can sometimes be a LOT more expensive. I'm thinking CCD quit but I'm no expert. I haven't heard back from Olympus as of yet; I'll let you all know how it works out.

Well, I've sent her off to Oly...via a local camera shop! I hope to hear back soon; I'll post the details.

Ouch...
Well, then, just contact them with a description and they'll take a look at it...
I had one go out, 3030.. but could still see the screen. One sensor went out or something like that.. look like a photo take from a venitian blinds.. Horizontal lines going through the photo... got it replaced/upgraded.

I have the same horizontal lines problem on my 5050Z, so sending it in to Olympus tomorrow. $187 plus tax for repair.

Interesting, I would have thought it would be fixed by now.. the issue.. apparently it's not just an issolated one that I thought it was..

thanx..

ps. You might check to see what they'd do for an upgrade to a 7070 and housing...
If you're using the 5050 housing and your camera, 5050, has been used for a while (assuming since the sensor went out) you might just see what they'd do for you in an upgrade.. just a thought.. Before you have it repaired.. like a trade in.. etc..

My wife was taking pictures a couple of days ago and I went to download them this morning...3/4 of them are black. I got the camera turned it on and black screen, menu settings, flash, everything else seems to work. Did she bite the big one?...

As promised, here's the update. I got her back from Oly... Bad CCD, they said it received some external damage. Not sure how, nothing else on the camera had damage. $160, and she's as good as new...maybe even a little faster. Not sure, may be because I was without it for a couple of weeks.

Geesh... ya never know...

These Mystery Damages are hard to figure out... It always sounds like your threw it out an airplane window or crushed it with a steam roller...

Well, at least you got it back in Better? condition.. refurbs are fine..

Now you need to take some photos heheheh.. put'em up there eh??
