So, I go to do a couple of cold water dives tonight, to recalibrate my reference points before Fundies starts tomorrow . . . and my HID light has gone on an unscheduled vacation. No obvious reason why -- the battery is charged, never got flooded, and the bulb looks fine. Light will go back to manufacturer, I guess, to get sorted out.

Why do these things choose such elegant timing to occur? The only thing worse than the care and feeding of an HID light is diving without one . . . as my husband and I found out tonight when we couldn't even get our fellow divers' attention with the wimpy backup lights we were using :(

Sorry to hear that, although Murphy could have been crueler: the light could have flooded on the dive. I admit that that may be very little consolation ;)

Murphy is a rascal.

Sorry about your light.

Figures that would happen just before your fundies... :(

SStrecker:
When in doubt, suspect the battery. By the way, temperature can impact battery performance.

I think that Rick sabotaged it so that he could "outshine" you in the fundies class. He did buy his light just a few months ago. You West coast divers are cut-throat! Can we vote him off the island?

BTW, I've got copyright on the DIR reality show!

Did you check the contacts (terminals the battery touches)? Sometimes a little buildup, pencil eraser helps.
