Went diving with Jim and Robert off the Cypress Sea on Saturday. We moored off Pt. Lobos park. Things were so dark at 86ft that you needed a light to read computers etc. Conditions were not too much better around at Stillwater cove. Very murky down to 30 or 40ft then a little bit better below that. Given the conditions just outside Lobos on Saturday we ditched our plans to dive in the park itself on Sunday and just settled for the Breakwater - a bit better than conditions in Carmel Bay. It was a tough day for pictures but a few that worked (more or less) are at

Yup, we went out Sunday and saw much the same thing. Way out from Coral Street Beach it wasn't too bad--maybe 40' vis in spots. But it wasn't great vis either, and I thought I could improve on this by going down to Butterfly House. Wrong move! Even down 85' at Outer Butterfly I still didn't see better than 20' of visibility. It was like a night dive, what with thick kelp riding on top of 80' of pea soup. For some reason I don't understand, Monterey Bay seems to have clearer water right now than Carmel.

Did Monastary South on Sunday, pretty dark especially under the kelp and viz wasn't too great 10-15. Also pretty cold, 48deg

You should have been up in Sonoma County, we had awesome vis and great conditions. There's a lot more to see too.

Hey Jim,
All you have to do when you're on I-80 right at the 37 junction is to turn the wheel a bit to the right instesd of going straight and join us up here. As far as I understand it's about the same distance right?
