The last time that I dove was about 3 weeks ago. On our final decent, I reached the bottom @ 15 FFW. I felt pressure on my sinuses, even though I had equallized on the way down and my ears had cleared. Rather that do the right thing and ascend to equalize again, I held my nose & gently blew until the sinus pressure was gone. After we ascended, I noticed a slight discomfort in my right ear and my left ear was slightly muffled. After about a day, the right ear was fine. My left ear is still slightly muffled. I am wondering if the extended equalization attempt (when my ears didn't need it, just the sinuses needed equalization) may have streached my eardrum.
Anyone else have any ideas?

I've had that happen before as well. For me, it was fluid filling in behind the eardrum because I didn't equalize early enough. It took about a week for the fluid to reabsorb. No long term problems.

Went to see an ENT specialist. The diagnosis: I ruptured some blood vessels in my middle ear and the fluid was blood. It was minor, but I took 3 weeks off. My ears returned to normal in about 4 days. Equalize early and often. I've done 10 dives since with no problems.

Have had that proble myself. Took a couple of weeks to go away but did just fine. I too saw an ENT and he couldn't find anything wrong with my ears. It was odd too cause when I tilted my head, it sounded and felt like the ocean waves crashing in my head.

The judicious use of tincture of time often cures many things.
