I went back to the quarry today. All night last night I did Giant Strides in my head. I was ready! I put on my gear..........still have a terrible time putting on my fins standing up on the end of the dock.......... my instructor ( was with someone else today, though mine was watching, mine was doing intro dives with three college students.so he asked one of the other insturctore s who actually got me into this in the first place to work with me) Barry, the instructor, put on his gear and went in first. then waited for me. I talked though what I was supposed to do, looked at the horizon and took my big step, without giving myself time to be scared I did three more during the course of the day. The rest of the day was awsome. We didn't go very deep because visibility was terrible, but I did manage to swim on the bottom ( though I still have a hard time getting down there. I found a rope and went down the rope once, and other times Barry gave me his hand and pulled me down. I had no trounble clearing my mask , clearning my regulator...........I was able to slow down mya breathing, was better and not bending my knees..............in other words I did GREAT !!!!!!!!! it was a WONDERFUL day.

When I gotr back up I asked my instructor, Well, when am I going to go diving for m;y gear. He said next lesson! I said, sure, i may or may not abe successful but I am ready to try ! He told me right before I left that next week, he is going to issue me my temporary card and send off for my permenant one !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have made it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This has to be the best thing I have ever done in my entire life!

And it gets better!

Right now it's the newness and the sense of accompishment.

Soon it will be dives of sheer pleasure though it's prudent to work those skills back in regularly so you can perfect and expand them. When you're in your own gear things will really take shape.

Congratulations and have fun!

Pete

Hey SkyBird - Congratulations from North Alabama. Betcha can't wait for that first "official" dive after you get your c-card.
BTW - I looked at your profile under "Certification Agency" you look pretty qualified to just be doing the giant stride :D

Congratulations, and they're right . . . it only gets better, and more addictive, from here.

Looks like things are clicking for ya. Way to go there.

Congratulations! It only gets better! Happy diving!
