After the five feet of vis yesterday I was hoping for at least ten at Marineland. We were quite surprised to see more than twenty feet throughout the dive. After the long surface swim, Bob, Joe, Dennis and I dropped too far offshore and found lots of sand. Eventually Bob and I made it to Ted's Pinnacle. Poor Angelique never made it past the entry after breaking a fin strap. I felt bad for her walking up the hill without getting in a dive. Really, I did.
During our swim out a large baitball made its way near me, close enough to see dolphins, sea lions and birds having a feeding frenzy. I didn't see them under water, but it is still cool to witness.
There was no surf to speak of, 20-25' visibility and 57F water. I'll be back for more tomorrow.

You mean you got better conditions at OML than we did off Catalina today? Actually, it wasn't horrible (up to 30-40' vis in limited areas) but there was a good current and surge that could be felt down to 170 ft. Lots of resuspended particulates so I only shot 9 min of video on two dives. The silver lining... less to edit tonight and more time to watch a DVD!

We had a milky five feet yesterday. Today I was able to shoot some wide angle in somewhat blue water. It was an amazing turnaround in 24 hours. Hopefully it will continue to improve over the next two days. I hate having time off work during bad dive conditions.

Must admit, amazing what you see over there in relatively shallow water... so many things that I only see rarely here, even at depth.

We have 20 off PV tonight (from boat) too.
Of course, the time the hug-arse bat ray comes up and swims right by is 5 mins after Frank had stowed the camera for ascent :(

55F's at 45 feet though brrrrr.
