We used to go to Mt Storm a lot. 4h away, free, deep, warm, could do Altitude and AN/DP training, then the diving from shore got curtailed, but diving from a boat is still OK.

Is anybody still diving there?

Some go once in a while. DNR is still a pain in the butt and no one has been doing any maintenance on the platforms at all. Still need to dive from a boat. Last report I got from someone who went said that since there's no regular diving going on, the lines that ran between the platforms are full of fish hooks. Meaning also the possibility of lots of monofilament attached to them is floating around. I was there about 3 years ago and vis was horrible. Plant was down so water was colder than anticipated. The motel in Mt Storm was torn down. Don't know if it has been replaced. Stained Glass Restaurant shuttered. Nearest clean lodging and food is in Oakland, Md.

Bummer, Jim. Although, tearing down the Mountaineer Motel is probably a good thing, but closing Evelyn's Stained Glass is definitely a bad thing.
Fishhooks. Ugh. No thanks.

Someone actually bought the Mountaineer with the intention of rehabbing it. The old one is gone. The new one seems to be in operation. Mountaineer Motel
Parts of it were torn down. Not the whole thing.

I arrived at the Mountaineer once after a day of diving and the already-paid-for room they gave me was in a little annex in the back. It was so bad I just git in the car and drove home for the night.

I have wanted to go back but no shore diving means no bueno. Will stick to Summersville even though I know all the boulders on a first name basis now.
