Yesterday, Christian from westbounddiving.com - westbounddiving.com announced on his Facebook page he is shutting down the operation soon. It is a great six pack out of Marina del Rey. The only other MdR six pack is the Giant Stride, which is comfortable, but really slow, and no larger dive charters out of there. Certainly opens up a business opportunity for a well run six pack out of del Rey. I'm just sayin'...

Ok...thanks for the input. Another question, what's the BEST dive club in the area??? Fun folks, love to dive...then party...?

Depends on where you'll be. PowerScuba in SD has tap night thursdays and dive literally all the time.

I dive with Sole Searchers out of Pasadena when I get the time. They have monthly meetings, an annual trip, and do local things together. All in all, a super friendly group to hang around with.

Pacific Wilderness (San Pedro) has a reputation, as does Dive Vets ( Redondo Beach). Both good groups to party with, both dive frequently.

Thanks gang. We are going to be living in the Seal Beach/Long Beach area. Haven't found a place yet but the wife will be working at Long Beach Coast Guard Base so we want to be pretty close to them.

If you do start running charters or something, let me know. I'd like to start doing some exploring of some lesser-visited spots.

I really like Seal Beach. It's a cool town that sort of flies below the radar. It has its own, unique kind of vibe IMO.

No, you don't need a drysuit for SoCal, but you definitely won't be diving in a t-shirt!

You will be a stones throw from Deep Blue Scuba & Swim, in Long Beach. Very social & fun dive club, great shop. Seal Beach is a great place, as is Long Beach.

Thanks gang. We found a place in Huntington Beach....with a dock. New boat coming....new dive buddies needed!!! We are looking WAY forward to diving and teaching in the area! Thanks for all your input. Deep Blue Scuba and Swim looks perfect. We will arrive the end of October!!!
