I am also very surprised. I am sure that a local could find an amazing place for much less than this, but perhaps they have the rental market so locked down and are able to gouge foreigners so they do. From what I am seeing I am not able to find all of the over built areas that were mentioned earlier. I have also hired a local in Playa to find something but pretty much the only things he is showing me are listings found on Andale.

Not to mention I would think there is pretty much nobody local that could afford these places. So they may be exclusive to foreigners and are paying hugely inflated prices.

pls forgive me as i know nothing about the rental market in playa. but it boggles my mind that for $1500/month a person cannot find an amazing place to live in mexico. i must be crazy or just completely out of touch with reality. i would have thought a decent place could be had for half that amount or less. its mexico for cryin out loud. whats goin on down there ?? i actually met a fella in playa almost two years ago who told me basically the same story as you. he couldn't find anything either.
