Wilmington is much more than a college town. Sure, you have the college town stuff around the college itself but Wilmington is big enough that you can get away from that, if you want.

Yes Wilmington is indeed a college town. If I could live anyplace in NC I think it would be in the Wilmington area. If I didn't have to work for a living I would consider moving there now. Doubt I could get a job there that pays what I am getting now (which isn't huge, but it would be less there)

I am the same way. I would live there as well if I could make anywhere close to what I make now... that, and it would be a long drive to Auburn football games every Saturday in the fall.

I would offer my vote for Wilmington as well. Morehead/Beaufort area is nice but Wilmington offers more of a total package. While property values have increased over the past 5 years or so, you can still find something nice and reasonably priced. You have two LDS: Cape Fear Divers and Aquatic Safaris, and volunteer diving opportunities at one of the three NC aquariums.

In Wilmington we have the Wrightsville Beach jetties that are pretty popular spearing spots. Common fish shot are flounder, sheepshead, spanish mackerel and the occasional cobia. The north jetty is about 1/4 mile long maybe a little longer and gets down to 25-30 ft at the tip.

Here is my vote for Wilmington.

Wilmington is a great place; lots of charm and character. Reminiscent of Charleston in certain ways. Lots of rich history. A little hard to get around the full circle of the area, due to geography (Cape Fear River, islands, etc.) But very interesting, and unique. Nice beaches, decent diving.

I live in the Mountains (western part) of NC, and the weather is probably nicer (cooler nights), but if I wouldn't have to walk away from an established business (which I cannot do), I would move close to Wilmington in a heartbeat.
