It's nice to see you moving down or over I should say and of course getting a warm Florida welcome. I live up in Jacksonville which is 5 hours from you, but I journey down that way from time to time. You should try the Speigel Grove, it's an artificial reef and from what I hear is absolutely amazing. You will also love the vis down here and the water temps are quite different than the Thames. I dove the Thames once when I was younger when my Dad was over there. It was a new experience to say the least . Congrats on the move and have lots of fu ndiving.

Welcome to your new home
Nathan

One of the best places I've experience is "Conch Republic Divers" located in Tavenier on the north (east?) end of Plantation key.

They're away from the over dived (read Molasses reef) area and take really good care of you:

* On sight, secure gear storage if your diving multiple days with them (No taking that wet stuff back to the hotel room).

* Depending on group size, site location is negotiated between you and the boat captain.

* They have list of hotels & motels nearby where, when booking through them, get get you a reduced rate (Better than I've been able to get on some of the local web sites or travel agencies).

Their web site is:

Welcome to the board Dean... and look for another new user from this weekend! DiveGal01 is yet another Scouter!

Thanks Bomber. I'll call you when we've settled in. We've only been in our apartment for a week and I somehow suspect it might be a month or so before we're diving again. Strangely enough, Islamorada was where I thought we'd visit first.

Thanks for your welcome Nathan. I've never dived in the Thames and would advise no one else to either. The viz is less than six inches and there's nothing but polution and mud. The south west coast of the UK, however, is great, especially in Cornwall, where there are lots of wrecks and reefs.

And thanks for the recommendation Dean.

Fred

You're exactly right on that. I dove it with my Dad back in 1982. I'm sure it's gotten much worse since then. Again welcome, you are going to love Florida.

Thanks
Nathan
