Seems like I will be making the move home to NC in the next month or so. Would like to continue diving - but am unsure of the lay of the land in NC as I have only dove Florida and California.

we have some great diving offshore nc!! and looots of quarries...

can't wait to meet ya! where will you be moving to? and when?

At this point it looks like I will be living in Durham, at my mother's house - at least for a while. I grew up in Raleigh, so am pretty familiar with the area. Are there a lot of divers in the RTP area?

There are a good many divers centered around the Raleigh area. You will be in a pretty good position to find dive buddies...what kind of diving do you like to do?

I am still pretty much a newbie as I have only logged about 25 dives (or 26, can't recall right now). I am happy just tooling around checking things out. Am not into tech diving really, although I like to learn new things. It is nice to hear that it won't be too much of a problem to find divers. I have only really ever dove with one person but since he won't be coming to NC, I need to find a new setup.

Well welcome aboard from the Fuquay Varina area....that megatropolis we all know and love!!

Fuquay = "megatropolis" eh? I know the area well enough to know better! :) Well, things may have changed in the last 6-7 years since I have been gone. Damn, its been that long. I am SO not looking forward to hot and humid summers. Bleech!

Hey Sarita it will be great to have a fitness buddy so close. Let me know when you get here and we can go diving.

Welcome Home!!!! LOL

Living in Durham your right in the middle, more or less, to a bunch of quarries.

45 Minutes East - Fantasy Lake in Rolesville, NC (Just outside of Raleigh)
45 Minutes NorthWest - Blanch Quarry (Part of the PDRA)
1.5 to 2 hours north - Lake Rawlings, VA
2 hours south west Blue Stone Quarry (south of Greensboro)
2 hours west Lake Norman Quarry (also part of the PDRA)
1.75 hours south west American Quarry (again part of the PDRA system)

Hopefully we'll be able to get to dive together sometime. I frequent Blanch the most, its the closest to me and the cheapest (first year is like $50 and you get a key to all 3 quarries, you can dive whenever you want as often as you want)

Also take a look at www.ncdivers.com, it's a great resource to North Carolina diving.
