Anything with Jet Li in it. I have seen every movie that has been imported to America with him in it. Some of them I have watched both the dubbed, and the subtitled versions.

I also have some other favorites.

Rob Roy
Resevoir Dogs
K-PAX (just saw it last night and loved it)
All of the Star Wars flicks.
GodFather
GoodFellas
Casino
Pulp Fiction

I could go on forever!

There are several I like:

The Perfect Storm
Batman
Independance Day
All Star Wars
The Outlaw Josey Wales
Pale Rider
Michael
Face Off
Gone in 60 Seconds
Matrix
Harry Potter
Both Austin Power's
Men in Black
The 10 Commandments
The One
The Crow
Dirty Harry
And the best movie ever made.... CHRISTMAS VACATION!!!

It has the best line of all in it... "SHI--ERS FULL"

Rich :out:

I loved Black Hawk Down. It is one of my favorite movies. Then again, I love anyting that has to do with war, and the more blood and guts the better...... Saving Private Ryan is another favorite of mine... I'm watching it right now :)

Do any of you care for the 1920's silent pictures? We have a theater here in town that specializes in them (sometimes with vintage organists, too!)

I fell in love with Buster Keaton & Harold Lloyd. Keaton's "All my Wife's Relations" is a crack-up. "The Freshman" with Harold Lloyd is another gem. I never get tired of watching seamless visual comedies with broad acting.

Just wanted to throw in a few more...

A Clockwork Orange
2001: A Space Odyssey
The Big Lebowski
Fandango (actually a pretty bad flick, but its a guilty pleasure)
Evil Dead 2
To Kill A Mockingbird
The Princess Bride
The Road Warrior
Repo Man

Wow - that is a pretty consistent list! If you liked ED 2 you'll like Spiderman - same director, Sam Raimi, and cameo by the hero of the ED series, Bruce Campbell, in a pivotal and funny moment (among many!)

With all the discussion about politics on this thread - did anybody think The Phantom Menace (Episode 1) was an equal opportunity offender? Episode 2 was less offensive, but also far, far less of a movie - Lucas should give it up.

Art Chick - I like some silents - my favorite, Harold Lloyd, without a doubt!

I love this thread too!

Statements like these always give me a good chuckle. People are too easily offended in this country, and too worried about offending someone who is too damn sensitive to begin with. I saw NOTHING offensive about Episode 1.

Legend
One of my favorite movies that few people have heard of. It is directed by Ridley Scott and stars Tom Cruise, Mia Sara, Tim Curry, and Robert Picardo (you know...the holographic doctor from Star Trek Voyager). They just released a directors cut DVD that is 30 mins longer than the original US release and has the original Jerry Goldsmith score rather than the entirely unappropriate Tangerine Dream score. I highly recommend this movie to anyone who likes a good, classic fairy-tale. It contains mostly simple ideas about the principles of balance in the universe, dark-light, good-evil, i.e. yin-yang.

After my testimonial about Legend, here are a few others
Usual Suspects
Shawshank Redemption
Blade Runner
The Matrix

Or perhaps you weren't offended because you aren't from the culture or demographic that may have taken offense? I do agree sometimes things can be too pc or misconstrued but just as I dislike gratuitous sex or violence in a movie but can accept something as graphic/raw as The Piano Teacher because it was an integral part of the movie, so too I can accept the portrayal of minorities in less than positive light, but gratuitous racial stereotyping is just pandering to the lowest common denominator. Ironically, the original trilogy, made in a "less PC" era, was also less offensive - in fact, not offensive at all. Plus mediocrity is always offensive.
