I am looking for a womans BC. It can be universal I dont care. I want to get the most streamlined BC with the best comfort. I dont know how I feel about the Zena so Im not going for that one. I was thinking more like the Mares she dives Aliikali (the guys one is the Icon). I used the Mares she dives Kalia and I LOVED IT but I dont want the extra bulk, so I thought naturally try the Aliikali. BUT OF COURSE I know there are people out here on this forum that have tried theese or own theese and who better to ask but scubaboard. I shore dive a lot so if its not comfy then I dont care how streamlined it is. I dont want to hurt by the time I get to the water.

THANKS

Look into a backplate and wing

I'm guessing you suggested a bp/w because she wants something streamlined. A bp/w could be a good choice for streamlining as long as she doesn't want integrated weights, integrated pockets and clips very little to the drings.

Once you start adding pockets, weight pouches and start clipping items to drings they're not streamlined anymore than most other bcd's. Without the integration she'll need a weight belt which adds drag not to mention being a pita.

I don't know much about womens BC's. My wife uses an Oceanic Isla and loves it.

Yea I looked at the backplate but again comfort is a big deal to me. If I didnt have any padding then I would be hurting by the time I hit the water with that backplate. I am very short and petite so that would be to strenous for me and I have prior car accident injuries that would be affected. Perhaps I worded myself wrong.

Most important:
1) Comfort
2) Streamlined

I want to most streamlined you can get for the BEST comfort for a woman.

I loved th Kaila but it was too bulky for me. Does anyone have an opinion about the Aliikali (or even guys opinions on the Icon since they are the same - ish lol) That seems to be like the Kalia but more streamlined.

THANKS

My wife and I both use a WTX Harness and a separate DiveRite wing. This system is very comfortable, extremely well built and tough. My wife uses the added weight pockets and I use it with a weight belt. (Guess who needs more weight!). This system is very similar to the DiveRite TransPac but I feel this setup is built better. (I’ve had both)

It will take any regular wing and if I had to buy it all over again, I would use a Deep Sea Supply wing.

Look at the Zeagle Lazer. Much better design than the zena. All my lady customers who have tried it love it.

Thanks Steve
That actually looks nice. Very compact but still has pockets and D rings. Sleek and stylish ;). Is there any ladies on here that can tell me how the comfort is diving one of theese from personal Experience?

Question everything. Why do you want padding? Padding isn't streamlined. Most padded BCs have padding where it's pretty much useless anyway. When you are walking with a BC, you might want (assuming you are not diving with a wet suit, if diving with a wet suit, you already have all the padding you could need) a small amount of padding in the shoulders and perhaps a tad where the BC rests against the lower back. Any other padding in a BC is for looks only. When you are diving, you'll be prone and air in the BC will lift it from your back, eliminating any need for padding. That's a good thing because as you descend, the padding is compressed, eliminating its effectiveness. Also, keep in mind, the more padding in your BC, the more lead you need to carry. Since you are petite with injuries, the amount of lead you carry should be a concern. You'll probably be happier if you minimize your lead. The most streamlined BC of which I'm aware is the Scubapro Classic Sport, but it has no absolutely padding.
