Does anyone use the wrist mounted mosquito as a primary computer? Do you like the Mosquito, what do you think of the PC interface? Does it give you the info you want. How easy is the display to read under water? Does it light up?

Thanks

My question about the Mozzy....

Can you change the band easily to one that will fit around the arm of a drysuit wearer

to use a a backup. I am leaving for the caymans on saturday & will let you know how I like it. As rar a a light is concerned, it does have one & it is activated by pressing the top right button & stays on for about 10 seconds. As far as the wrist strap is concerned, it comes with an extension that will easily allow you to wear it with a heavy suit

I use the mossy as my primary and I love it. But I don't use the PC interface so I don't know how it works.

TexasMike,

I comes with an extention that should allow it to fit around a dry suit.

Sorry I missed the question about whether or not it lights up. The answer is yes it does light up.

I use the mosquito as a primary as well and I like it, although my only other experience with a dive computer was a Dive Rite (rental) during my OW check out dives. I do not use the inteface. The extension strap look handy for wet suiters (I don't own on eyet), but it sure would be nice if they made a velcor strap for it instead. It also come with a vinyl face cover which seems a little off (the cover is round, while the face is a little oval), haven't noticed any problems reading it under water however. I picked mine up from Dive Inn for $244 back in August. I don't remember what the shipping was specifically - but it wasn't much and I had it in 4 days.

I have the mos also, I do not know how thick the drysuit would be so cannot comment on that. The PC interface is neat and what I use now for logging, you can down load the sw for free from their site and use it, the comp just fills in the spaces for you. The actual wire that I got does not fit very well at all, obviously designed for one of the others and this one kind of retro fitted. I have to hold them together for the most part but it gets the job done. Seeing it at night is no problem. I have found it to be an excellent basic nitrox computer. The plastic cover was also obviously designed for another comp as it does not fit all that well. I generally stick with the tables so I am not sure about the deco specifics. I have heard it is on the conservative side of life though.

So it gives you all the info you need during the dive?

Example:
Bottom time
Acsent rate
NDL Time
Current Depth
Max Depth
Deco (if you surpass your NDL)

Bottom time- Yes

Acsent rate- For the ascent rate, it will beep if you go too fast, and has little bars that guage your rate, but I do not use that either, just guage my rate from time/depth.

NDL Time - Yes

Current Depth - Yes

Max Depth Yes

Deco (if you surpass your NDL)- I am 99% sure on the deco part, though I will defer to others because I do not use it for really much more than a bottom timer with logging

Also gives temp, and the O2 pp for nitrox, avg. depth and some other stuff I can't remember right now.

Very cool, thanks.

Just a tip for all computers with plastic faces. My LDS carries an adhesive plastic cover for the face of computers. I am not sure who makes it but it comes of without residue an protects the face very well (you have to cut it). It is much better than the one that comes with it.
