I'm trying to get a dive planned for Sunday December 7th. Myself and a few other divers from Tallahassee are planning on driving over to dive Morrison and Vortex on Dec 7th. We may do one dive at each location or just 2 dives at one location.

I'm going to shoot another episode of my dive series. Let me know if anyone is interested in joining us.

Beware of the Law at Morrison Springs. The rumor is they are giving tickets to divers. The park is still closed from what I understand (Waiting or picnic tables) and the only area open is the boat ramp which says "NO DIVING", and people who enter here and swim to the spring are being ticketed. Check the Morrison spring is dead string for an update.

I may be up for a Vortex trip then.

Looks like it's going to just be Vortex. I've done some research and the county has posted a "NO DIVING" sign at the Morrison boat ramp. This would give the cops the ability to ticket and or arrest divers for trespassing. However, divers could just technically reach the spring by a small boat and dive from there.
So unless they open the spring by the 7th this trip will just be to Vortex; I haven't been there in a couple years.

Aren't we Scuba Divers?

I thought diving was jumping into the water headfirst.

I would have thought that also, but I'm not sure that Ponce De Leon (a small town in the middle of no where) is the place to be arguing that point.

The sign is a little mis-leading "No Swimming..." "No Diving". Maybe they are concerned about the liability of getting into the water and swiming down to the spring and back with the "boat" traffic.

Brian,
Checked out your Videos... Nice work!!!!
You can REALLY live up to your shows title..... ADVENTURES in underwater Florida... :D

Shoot.. I might but a little ONE man inflatable boat and tow my gear behind it in the water and attach it with a LONG rope and let me dive buddy pull the boat back to the ramp for them to use.... :) There are some poor feelings about the Spring being held from us because of a "Hazardous" water sample check and autograph on a permit by the local "Gov't" and the other dangerous environment that having NO picnic tables could pose to visitors. :( Sad to think that this is the ONLY reason we can't go and why we might get fined for scuba DIVING in OUR STATES waterway. :(

I've been granted by the county special premission for a group of 4-5 to dive Morrison. I'm working out the details with them. We'll be allowed to use the park and it's facilities. I've been granted this permission because I'm planning on filming an episode of my dive series profiling Morrison and it's improvments. The permission is granted to me and my "crew". So if you want to dive Morrison legally before it's open and don't mind helping a little then your in.
I'll let you know the details once I iron them out. They'd like for us to be there on Monday but I'm pushing back for Sunday since we all have jobs and we're volunteering.

While we're here we can try the Morrison Cavern lighting project.

Might be able to help but not sure just yet. What time? the Crack of Dawn...leave her out of this ;) .... or brunch time?

I just got an email back saying they'll have a guy out there at 2:00pm. Which means I'll swing by Vortex and film there first then head over to Morrison. I'm sure I'll be there before the Parks and Rec guy is so I'll have time to setup and film a little around the park before hand.
