Morphos or pro-tech

having decided to buy the Mares morphos BCD going by alot of the reveiws i have read (unfortunatly not many dive shops in nottingham to go try one on) and the comments on here but went to decathlon at the weekend to try a few wet suits on so that i get the right size my girlfriend tried on a Seacsub protech BCD so i tried one as well and it is soooooooooo comfy i am now a bit torn.
i really like the idea of the trim flow system and the fact that it folds up into its own little pod, perfect for when we do out 2 year dive trip in 07, but the Seacsub was relly comfy and really well made.
there is a website doing the morphos at £240 and the seac was £240

anyone give me any pros and cons

help me obi-wan-kenobi your my only hope!!!

I know nothing about either of them and would choose none of them.
Since you've narrowed your choice down to those 2 BCD's you aren't likely to want other opinions, which is I (and others I'm sure), have not replied.....

Have you considered a BackPlate and Wing instead?

I'm afraid that most people on this side of the world aren't familiar with the Seacsub brand, Mares yes however..
I'm familiar with the Seacsub name and have seen it on the web but never in person.

Sorry, I am not familiar with either. I currently use a Seaquest Balance and love it. It is considered a travel bcd. It's a back inflation which doesn't squeeze you when you inflate it, like alot of the jacket style bcd's do. You might want to investigate the backplate and wings as others suggested. They are extremely adjustable so they can fit anyone perfectly. They also allow for changes in configurations such as pockets, weight integration, single or double tanks, the list is endless. If I would have known a little more about bp/w, I might have bought that setup instead of what i have (even though I still love my bc), although mine being back inflation is very similar to bp/w.

Obviously, in the end you want something comfortable, but it may be worth looking at bp/w as they do provide alot more room for upgrading in the future, even though you say you're only using it seldomly.

I find the pressure release valves excessively loud, myself. They tend to scare the fish enough that I had to trade mine in for a BCD.

To the original poster - if you haven't tried similar rental BCDs, see if you can do that, even if just in a pool. Particularly if you're considering a back-inflate like the Seaquest that was mentioned or under-the-arm-inflate BCD (see above) and you've only used jackets before, etc. - if you can try something of the same brand and inflation style as whatever you're considering buying, even if they're not the same models, you're usually not going to get too many unpleasant surprises when you buy it if you've used and liked something similar.
