I've always been partial to "Ride My Seesaw" -- if that doesn't get your blood moving, you'd better check your pulse. I could get into a lot of trouble by listening to the beginning of that song as I approach the on-ramp of the freeway...;)

....but they did have a Lord of The Rings song in there...Battle of Evermore. Very good song there. I love Zeppelin, Moody Blues is good, I love Metallica (except for the new crap).....it boils down to...I love anything good. :) The Eagles are damn good. Jimmy Buffet is good but he gets very old and tiresome when you live on an island in the Caribbean, as does Bob Marley and Tom Petty. Is that true everywhere in the Keys and the Caribbean....that Bob Marley, Tom Petty, and Jimmy Buffet are worshipped like musical gods?

We're very much into the Lord of the Rings here. I just heard Ramble On and heard the part that refers to LOTR. Very cool. I must have heard that song a thousand times, and never made the connection. Dumb I know.

Nature Diver:
What is said in the song you are talking about?

Forgot about the Battle of Evermore. Wouldn't even do to quote some lines. The whole song is about the battle of Gondor, and Frodo and Sams walk through Morder.

The Battle of Evermore...........

Queen of Light took her bow
And then she turned to go,
The Prince of Peace embraced the gloom
And walked the night alone.
Oh, dance in the dark of night,
Sing to the morn - ing light.
The dark Lord rides in force tonight
And time will tell us all.
Oh, throw down your plow and hoe,
Rest not to lock your homes.
Side by side we wait the might
Of the darkest of them all.
I hear the horses' thunder
Down in the valley blow,
I'm waiting for the angels of Avalon,
Waiting for the eastern glow.
The apples of the valley hold,
The seas of happiness,
The ground is rich from tender care,
Repay, do not forget, no, no.
Oh,-------dance in the dark of night,
sing to the morning light.
The apples turn to brown and black, The tyrant's face is red.
Oh the war is common cry, Pick up you swords and fly.
The sky is filled with good and bad
That mortals never know.
Oh, well, the night is long, The beads of time pass slow,
Tired eyes on the sunrise, Waiting for the eastern glow.
The pain of war cannot exceed
The woe of aftermath,
The drums will shake the castle wall,
The ring wraiths ride in black, Ride on.
Sing as you raise your bow,
Shoot straighter than before.
No comfort has the fire at night
That lights the face so cold.
Oh dance in the dark of night,
Sing to the mornin' light.
The magic runes are writ in gold
To bring the balance back, Bring it back.
At last the sun is shining, The clouds of blue roll by,
With flames from the dragon of darkness
The sunlight blinds his eyes.

....I guess that answers everyone's question about the Battle of Evermore. Thanks a lot. There were parts of that song I didn't know. :)

If you want to see something really funny, click on the link below. I found the lyrics there. It's a website about the connections between Zeppelins lyrics and Tolkien. Go to the section where they analyze the songs.

Talk about wanting something so bad, you'll reinvent the truth. Most of the purported connections are, at best, pretty far fetched ;)

Makes for entertaining reading though!

ScottyK:
That was really nice of you to copy all the lyrics. Thanks!
I'm going to put it in the CD player for tonight. It's on IV right?

No problem- I have an ear for the Tolkienesque lyrics from being so familair with the books.

I read the LOTR trilogy for the first time when I was ten (circa 1977), and on average, have read it again about every other year since then.

I'm currently feeding my scifi/fantasy appetite with The Wheel of Time books by Robert Jordan. It's a ten novel series that I would recommend to anyone who enjoys that genre.

When you're done with The Battle of Evermore, try "Misty Mountain Hop" (as in the Misty Mountains where Smaug lived in The Hobbit)

I didn't read this whole thread. Maybe its already been mentioned. But, have you Moody Blues fans heard an album called "Musical Version of War of the Worlds" featuring Justin Hayward? It was released in 1978 and is a fantastic album. I've heard the song "Forever Autumn" on the radio and it came from that record. It's really nice.
