Would you recommend a 4-6 week stay in your area? My husband and I are considering a 3 month stay in the Philippines starting next January and wanted some feedback on best areas (near dive ops) to stay in. We would probably prefer 2 locations so we can get a variety of topside activities and still get a good feel for living in the area. We have done multiple dives via the dive safaris and several local dive ops, but never stayed for more than a week. We definitely want to stay in a quiet area near a dive op (walk or tricycle ride away) but ideally have a small place to stay with a kitchen and a few options for dining. House reef access would be cool, but dont Want to pay $5k+/ month to stay at a dive ops villa either. Thanks!

Get the paper work(visa) done at home first. Not everywhere you can extend your usual 30 days visa easily.

South Leyte fit your description. A bit of damage by the typhoon couple of months ago but the infrastructure should be back to normal before your planned arrival.

Second location:
1. Dauin(option to dive Apo Island and Siquijor) or Sipalay or both. Long trip from South Leyte to Dauin so couple of days at Moalboal to break the journey.
2. Bohol + Cabilao.
3. Malapascua(small island with no top side activity to offer).

Anilao + PG for the whole duration. No domestic flight required.

Thanks for the quick reply Centrals. Any specific area / Dive Ops you recommend? We dove with Peters in Sogod, but didn’t have options for restaurants nearby. Is there another part of Southern Leyte? Havent been to Dauin town (just dove near it)…any insight re the area to look for a place to rent? Thanks!

1. The option for food in the evening is a short trek to Padre Bugos or other resort. And there are only a handful few of dive operator to chose from.
3. No idea how to rent a place in Dauin or South Leyte. I am pretty sure the local operator should have some ideas.

We were supposed to dive and stay with Bongo Bongo in Dauin before Covid. Never got a chance but they seemed like really nice people. Not sure if the survived the hot mess.
