I'm going to be down in Monterey on 2/17 and thought I might take a dunk at breakwater and McAbee. Does anybody know what the conditions are like with this storm that's rolled in?

Thanks!

I was at lover's late sunday and vis was about 10', and pretty surgy. I'd imagine McAbee would be similar. Here's the NOAA forecast. Conditions aren't too good, but I'd still go.

I'd go.

.THU...SE WINDS 10 TO 20 KT. WIND WAVES 2 TO 4 FT. SW SWELL 6 TO 8 FT
AT 15 SECONDS. CHANCE OF RAIN.

The SW swell means the usual Monterey beaches will be well
protected.

Monastary is a beach the requires a great deal of repect, and some
special skills. The first few times, you need to dive it with someone
who is experienced there.

A better option than Monastary on a weekday would be to see if
you can get in at Pt. Lobos, right around the corner, and much
more sheltered. But you gotta have a buddy.

Thanks to all for the input. I'd love to give Monastery and Lobos a go because I've never been diving at either, but this time I'll be diving solo so I thought it would be prudent to take it easy and go for the familiar territory.
