I mean single sidemount.
So drysuit and wing. Although I suppose drysuit only wouldn't be the end of the world since I'm using a minimum of weight.

In the end I grabbed my BP/W but I'll definitely give this a try during wetsuit season.
You don't need a wing.
You shouldnt be in a steel tank. Just use the drysuit and your "power bc" (scooter). It's not like you really need to be neutral, you're 90% on the trigger anyway.

No scooter...yet.
Usually using AL80s although looking for LP85s just very rare here.

Monkey diving was originally a scooter thing
We used a deco reg and the SMB whip was plugged into the drysuit. No wing
No long hose. OOA? point the scooter up and exhale

I dont really understand why you'd bother just swimming around. The wing will taco like crazy without a tank on there. And you end up stuffing the long hose for no good reason.

@grantmac my friend here in BC single tank sidemounts all the time with his AL80. He wears his suit (Primary inflation) and his wing. Mostly the wing just to have the harness available to clip off to and have his weights in the pockets (xDeep).
Uses the left side bottle with same classic left side hose routing (necklaced short hose), doesn't plug into wing inflator. Nice and easy for shore dives.

Does he keep the long hose stowed?

Sounds like exactly what I'm trying to do.

hmm. if you pre-inflate your drysuit and wear a shite-ton of weight, you could do it without a tank, too. No?

Nope. We dive in a trio so occasionally one of us will just throw one tank on.
Its all shallow stuff. If we do dive deep its all two tank or at least a backup 2nd stage on a single tank.
