Yes it does, but get your mom a bit more experience before you try a wall dive off the Cay Sal Bank or Tongue of the Ocean. :D

Welcome to the pool! Remember that this sport has a lot in common with heroin and turkey hunting. All are highly addictive and absorb any available resources, but are REALLY enjoyable!

Boy have I found THAT out!! The illusion of defying the laws of physics is like crack! Thinking about getting extra jobs to pay for more training. Can't get enough.

Thanks for the welcome everyone--what a great community!! I've really learned a lot by reading all the veteran voices. Nothing better than learning on land how to deal with Murphy under the water!

Well, I used to collect computers. I DID have about eight or nine at the house. I only have three now. (Plus one work laptop.) I even sold my two 19" flat panels to go toward the purchase of a VT3. :)

My girlfriend is tired of me saying "Scuba this, scuba that... etc..", but I thikn she will like the power bill being less than what it has been. Plus, I go to bed early now. :)

Congratz with your mom! My mother just recently broke her leg. I doubt she will want to try it anytime soon.

Welcome aboard and keep diving safe.

mwhities,

Have you thought of selling off those three remaining computers to get your girlfriend equip and a c-card (ha ha)? Actually, I keep crossing my fingers too that my hubbie won't ask for a divorce when I say "scuba this, that" one more &^%$ time, too. He's certified, but not a frothing addict.

Hope your mom's leg heals nicely. I don't know if this would help with your mom or not, but my mom was certified in October, had serious, life-threatening surgery in Jan. (more than 100 gall stones taken out), and was in the water with me just a few weeks ago (with Dr. ok). Maybe there's still hope for your mom????

Well, I offered that, believe it or not. She cares less (don't hate her for it) to scuba dive. She's happy to just snorkel and look at things from the top. I figured that will be okay, I'll be the one diving down getting "this and that" for her. I guess I could tell her to get a c-card and get it herself. ;)

Yeah, my mother's leg is not to good. It's an "egg shell" break. Instead of a clean break across both bones, it "shattered" like an egg shell would. Doctor said she might not be able to put all of her weight on it again. (She is quite large too.) I told her she needed to get in the pool and start swimming, one to help lose weigh, two to help strengthen the bone and muscles in her leg.

Great about your mom. Some people would just give up. Tell her I'm proud!

Michael

Will do, Michael. My mom will appreciate it.

Really sorry to hear about your mom's break--sounds like a complicated, painful, and debilitating one. Great recommendation on your part--hope she does get in the pool--water is so therapeutic! Deeply felt wish for her health and full recovery.

Angela

P.S. Actually, I respect your girl for doing her own thing! Tell her "go girl!!" from me.
