I'll update this first post as a running synopsis of this thread.

For a complete list of all of the Mo2vation dives for the 2007 calendar year, see this thread:

http://www.scubaboard.com/showthread.php?t=169079

When:
Saturday, February 24th

Where:
Dive Connections Inc. - DnD
Mission Bay
San Diego CA

Directions (click here)

For reservations call:
(888) 420-3047
or
(619) 523-9282

You can also make your reservation online at:

http://diveconnections.timetrade.com/

When making your reservation online please note that our 4 tank day is divided into two 2-tank trips with one in the morning and one in the afternoon. You need to sign up for both. This allows people to use the 2 for one Gift Certificates that you can buy in December to get these days for almost half of the ScubaBoard price.

If you do not receive an email confirmation you are not officially registered to go.

Destination:
The Yukon for 2 dives, The NOSC Tower, Ingraham Street Bridge (4 dives total)

Trip leaves at 7:00am, boarding begins at ?:00 am.

Cost:
(includes AL-80 Tanks provided by Dive Connections and air fills)

$135 per person

There is no compressor on the boat. It's only about a 10 minute ride out to these sites from the dock, so we return to the dock after 2 dives for air fills and you can go out and get some lunch. This means that if you want to dive tanks larger than AL-80s that you need to bring 2 tanks or you will dive an 80 for the 2nd dive.

Nitrox fills available. Call Dive Connections or visit their website for more information.

Don't wait until the last minute to sign up for any of these boats.

Remember that each of these boats is working on filling these open boats just like we are. If a shop comes along in February that wants to fill an October boat and we have only taken 3 spots. The rest of those spots will be sold. That's the only way that we can work with these boats and not make a financial commitment to them up front.

I've already given my credit card number to all of these boats to hold a spot for me. Keep in mind that they only use the card to hold the spot and will only charge it on the day of the trip, so if you book these trips now for the whole year, you won't be charged for a year's worth of boat diving all at once.

What is the Mo2vation Dive?

This is a monthly gathering of all divers in SoCal who can make it.

It was named after our SoCal member Mo2vation because of his love for boat dives and all of the friendly jabs he takes at our monthly Wrinkles Beach Dive and BBQ. :D

We welcome both ScubaBoard members and non-ScubaBoard members that you know. It's open to divers of all skill levels from "What's an anchor line?" to "Do we really have to dive the Andrea Doria again?"

This is a great way to meet our fellow divers and make new dive buddies! You don't have to have a buddy to participate, lots of us would be happy to buddy up with you.

RSVP:

RSVP on the ScubaBoard Calendar once you have a confirmed reservation:

http://www.scubaboard.com/calendar.php?do=getinfo&e=1024&day=2007-2-24&c=32

(you can now rsvp and include your guest count for your non-ScubaBoard buddies!)
Please sign up on the Calendar and update your party size on the calendar with changes, so that we can compare our list with Dive Connection's in advance and make sure that there are no discrepancies.

Let me know if I've misrepresented anyone's confirmed reservations here.

This sounds like exactly what I was hoping to find! But...

I am an East Coast diver, AOW w/ about 40 dives, including a couple of NC wrecks. Have never done So Cal, but it's calling me. I will be there Feb 24, but don't think I can dive in the afternoon since I fly out on the 25th. Can I do the first two tanks only?

If not, any other suggestions?

Thanks.

AM boat. :jump013: PM boat. :jump013:

The day is divided into two separate boats. Just sign up for the first boat. The second boat departs at 1PM, so you'll probably be back at the dock by noon.

Christian: I signed up using their website, but didn't see an opportunity to designate my reservation as "Scubaboard". I'll call them by phone later.
Thanks for arranging all this fun!!

Sounds schweeeet! (><)

How many spots total are available for the trip? I most likely won't know if I can do this trip or not until mid-January, as it hinges on whether we make it to Jamaica or not...

Christian, is it possible to just do the 2 Yukon dives ? If so, is what is the price ?

Kalani,

There are 18 spots on the boat and 3 are now taken. So, there are 15 left.

CharlieFoxtrot, riguerin and Glycerin,

I've got a call into the owner of Dive Connections to see about the possibility of diving a half day.

Since they return to the dock at mid-day, it creates a unique set of circumstances.

I'm guessing that the price would go up to the regular price of $80 for a 2 tank dive.

I'll let you know what I find out.

Claudette and for others that sign up in the future,

You can list ScubaBoard in the Rental Equipment section.
