Today i somewhat made an impulse buy and bought two first stages mk25 and a s600 for my primary (long hose) and an s555 for my back up. what i should have done was consult with the board first, however i guess i got excited in the store today and went ahead and let the man behind the counter convince me that this is what i needed. hopefully you guys will reassure me that i made a good decision, however be honest because since i havent used them yet, im sure i can exchange them.

little background on me.... i have my naui cert up to master scuba diver with just shy of 100 dives(95% gulf of mexico). i know its not very many however its enough to begin to understand where im developing my diving interest. i know that i want to get into cave diving. so please give me your opinion on which scubapro reg setup would work best for someone who dives mostly warm open water(florida/carribbean) with the ability to grow into tech cave diving...... thank you

Wow, you really should have consulted ScubaBoard first. Those regs are inappropriate for caves, and you should sell them to me for really cheap. Remember, I am doing you a favor ;)

...

If you're not going to fall for that, then I might as well let you know that MK25 and S600 is a great, robust regulator and will treat you well for caves. Definitely a good choice in regs.

You did real good. That is my two cents:D
I dive cave and that is ALL I use. But I like the 250V for my second stage.:D

I dive MK25/S600s for my doubles setup, in both open (cold) salt water and the little bit I've done in caves. I absolutely love them. Coming from a diving subculture that does tons of air-sharing, I have to say that I've not breathed off anybody else's reg that breathes better than mine, and most have a perceptibly greater work of breathing.

Same here, I have two S600's though, as I like to detune my backup so it does not free flow, yet at the same time it breathes really nice when opened up. Of course I am not cave diving...but I still swear by Scubapro regs.

I moved to the exact same setup from Apeks DS4/TX50s and wouldn't go back to the Apeks for back gas.

The Apeks Nitrox regs seem to work actually as well as the scubapro on deco bottles, but diving them on backgas felt like I was trying to suck a golfball through a hose pipe.

Also, the hose routing on doubles is always (for me) problematic with the Apeks, but a dream with the scuba pros ...

I would say you made a good choice as long as you got a decent price.

You went with a very good setup, I have the same 1st and 2nd stages. The S555 may be overkill for your octopus. I went with the s295 for that.

Er......
So I hope If I ever offer you my dive-rite back in the karst , you would accept it?
Seriously , interesting point. A lot of us in Da Karst Country here use the Salvo/Dive-Rite regs from a easy servicing standpoint.

Thanks!
Da Bean just throwing her .5 cents worth
