I just got my ip guage in the mail today and hooked it up to my two sets. The mk 2 read 140 at 3000 psi and 130 at 1000 psi with no creep. I am using a hog reg as the second stage.

The mk 10 read 125 creeping to 130 at both pressures. I have 2 g250's on that 1st.

Interpretations? I assume the mk10 should be rebuilt even though it is breathing great.

I have 3 mk2 kits but no mk 10 kit. Can anybody help with a mk10 kit?

Also I think I will need shims. Can I send a SASE and a couple bucks to someone?

A big thanks to anybody that responds!

I'd say your MK10 should last another season at least. 5 PSI of creep is not a big deal, just check it once in a while. If it's stable, 130 PSI is fine, no need for shim.

For the kits, either you buy the VDH's and substitue the 2-022 piston crown o-ring with a 2-017, or if you have access to the Trident A242, you can make your own kits.

If you punched out some copper shims would they
act as sacrifcial anodes and extend rebuild interval
or aluminium?

Prevent spring and piston rust

No not aluminium

Salt water only

Excellent, I will stock up on the aftermarket kit and get some of the small orings. Does anybody second the opinion to let the regulator go another year?

A 5 psi creep then stable is not a big deal, some manuf actually specify some allowable creep from the first lock up to the final pressure.
For shims, use SS shim stock or thin plastic. Do not use any other metals or you will end up with a corroded mess. I would not mess with it for a few PSI, when you rebuild it, that would be the time to adjust the IP if at all.

For what it's worth, the first stage has very little to do with the breathing preformance of a reg. As long as the IP is reasonably stable and it will provide sufficient flow, the first stage has little impact of the overall preformance of a reg. 99% of a regs preformance is in the second stage, esp when you are using balanced seconds like the HOG or G250.

NO, it is liable to explode any minute. Better send it to me and G-250's too. :D

Ok alright already!

Fifteen minutes pressurised in warm water.

That's it.

With lots of purging.

Pass it on to halocline
