Hello everyone, I have decided to get myself a new reg and since my LDS sells and services Scubapro it's really a no brainer for me to make my decision to go with Scubapro. But...my LDS is pushing the MK25/S600 or X650. I want to go with the MK17 with a G250HP or possibly the S600. Why? Because that's what I decided I want. However, I am afraid that when I go in to talk it over with him he may try to discourage me from this setup but he is a good guy and I may be wrong. However, since Scubapro does not ship this configuration to it's dealers and it must be special ordered in either of these (MK17 with either G250HP or S600) configuration I was hoping you guys/gals may give me a general idea of what to expect this configuration to cost so that I at least know what to expect. Thanks for any help you may be able to provide.

I got my MK/17 S600 setup for $580.00. Great setup

why would you want an MK17 over the MK25 which usually comes with the S600? I currently have the S600/MK25 and I have had ZERO problems with it. I have about 60 dives on that reg. On the flip side my main dive buddy has the same reg setup and we were diving at about 100ft, 50 degree water, and his would not stop freeflowing, he had to crank it all the way down and put it on predive and stick his finger in the mouthpiece to make it stop, he dove the rest of the dive off his octo. Strangly enough we never figured out why it did it. He works at the local shop so he had the boss take it all apart and everything was perfect. It hasnt done it since. Maybe just a random glich? I have never had my free flow even the least bit while diving. I just had mine in for its year service and eveything came back perfect!

You can check some of the other threads but it is common for regs to free flow after servicing. The tech probably set it up too loose alternatively maybe something was a little off and was corrected during the reassembly. My advice is whenever you get a reg serviced dive with it a few times before trusting it completely.

Leisure Pro sells the G250/MK-25 for $400.00. Being the MK-25 is a more expensive first, I would try to get the dive shop to match that price for the cheaper MK-17. After all the dive shop is really doing nothing but brokering your order, it is not like they have any carrying costs. It should be a win-win.

Don't know if this helps but I got my Mk18/G250HP from my LDS on sale in early 05 for $269.95

Well, First I will address why I want the MK17 over the MK25. Don't get me wrong I like the MK17 and the MK25 and for the type of diving I plan to do either would serve me well and I would be more than happy to own either one of them. However, I like the more compact size of the MK17 and I actually prefer the hose routing as compared to the Mk25 plus it should save me a few bucks, or at least that's what I was hoping. And, by reputation, they both breath equally well so why not.

I scrounged around and found the Scubapro catalog that my LDS wrote my quotes in. He quoted me $571 for the Mk25/S600 and $588 for the MK25/X650. Didn't get a quote on anything else at the time. I don't know how great that is but it seemed fair. I understand that he can only go so low on the price per Scubapro. I'm hoping to get an Aeris AI comp and a mini SPG to go along so he's gonna make a buck no matter what. Plus, there's no telling how much i've spent with him over the last year. I would probably cringe if he told me. Some things i'd just rather not think about.

Scuba discounts their regular packages a few percent so special orders are slightly higher. But last time I checked a Mk 17 S600 combo cost the same as a Mk 17 X650. The Mk 17 G250HP should be quite a bit cheaper (maybe $50-75 less).

What set up do you have now???...

All these prices seem a little high, i bought mine on Lesiurepro.com for $425, and that was my MK25/S600. Any reputable dive shop should meet their price. Some dive shops (the stingy ones where the owner works the cash register) and im not saying all shops that the owner works the cash register are stingy but in general they are, they wont honor Leisurepro deals. Because "they lie cheat and steal" so they like to say. I have had nothing but spectacular service from them. They have a great customer service department, great products at the best prices ANYWARE. They honor all factory warranties. I just sent my reg into them to get serviced it cost me 39.99 and they had it back to me with in a week of me sending it out. So I would think an MK17 might be a little cheaper than that $425
