[-]That makes sense from the payer's point of view[/-].
Let's vote.

Edit

On second thought, it's not such a good idea from my perspective, because:
  • When you pay Tex, PayPal WILL collect 3.4% + $.55 fees per payment
  • When Tex pays me, PayPal WILL collect AGAIN 3.4% + $.55 fees

As I understand it, if there is a high level of trust between people doing the transaction, sending a "gift" via PayPal does not incur the fees a normal sale transaction does. The downside to using the "gift" option is there is no recourse if the transaction goes bad. From PayPal's point of view, you weren't expecting anything back from the gift.

Edit - I personally trust y'all enough to risk this small amount of cash.

Interesting. Can you check it please? I can't find it on their site.

If you look under Personal Payments:

Free when you use your PayPal balance ***

3.4 % + 0.55 CHF

for credit card payments
(either the sender or recipient can pay this fee).

I believe it is also free if using a bank transfer in addition to using a PayPal balance. If the person sending the payment is using a credit card, there is a charge, but THEY can elect to pay it so the recipient gets the full amount.

The machine shop says the tolerance on the .06" part (red in the attachment) may be a bit off because of some issue with the "cutter". It means it may be a hair more than .06" +/-.005". Does it matter since it's in the through hole?

As I see it, it's free to send, and there's a fee to receive.
No, there are no fees if you use PayPal balance (for sure) or Bank transfer. There is only a fee if the sender is using a credit card. There is then the option for either person to pay the fee.

With regular payments, it is free to send, pay to receive.

parzdiver is correct about the fee free means of gifting money. As long as you use a paypal balance or a direct transfer from a bank account, there is no fee to send or to receive.

I don't mind acting as a source for the US funds, with a lump sum payment sent to Zung. I'll try and get a price together for the shipping on the US side (1 padded envelope + postage).

Anybody have an expected weight per retainer?

I weighted mine on my kitchen scale, and it's 3 g. But it's the last digit on a scale of 1000 g so it could be 5 g or .2 oz.

Any more accurate number? I don't think there's a big difference in density between brass & ss.

I measured the unthreaded part of my turret and told Arnaud that the diameter of the unthreaded part of the bolt should be less than 7.1 mm so it can be screwed entirely in the turret ("tourelle" in French). Can anyone confirm this?

Thanks to Luis, I added one additional measurement and sent it to Arnaud.
