I am back home after my mitral valve surgery Feb 25th. I stayed in hospital for 9 days, part of which was due to excessive water retention.
The surgeon only repaired my mitral valve, yeah! So no artificial parts except for the ring were implanted. I am on a few medications right now, mostly due to water issue, vitamins and supplements, and 1 HBP med. I should be off all meds, very soon. No need for the blood thinnners, yeah, no need for anything most likely once I am healed.
The minimally invassive surgery is wonderful... I have a long incision under my right breast, where they went between my ribs. I have a couple of ugly chest drain tube holes which I hope heal quickly, but other than that.. no problems, and no big chest crack scar or issues!

Thanks to everyone for your warm wishes and prayers. I hope to be back diving and hiking very soon.

This is very good news -- and with no prosthesis, there should be no anticoagulation, either! Good luck with the rest of your recovery, and may you be back in the water soon!

Very good to hear. When you decided to bail on that trip I figured it must be something pretty important.

Hearts, yeah. Important.
