Having lost my weight belt in the midst of my last dive, I decided to add some weight pockets to our dive rigs this year in preps for an upcoming trip to Florida. I noodled through this minimalist design that effectively becomes a quick release when unbuckled. Fits Sea Pearls hard weights from 2 pounds to 6 pounds pretty easily. Made from 3 pieces of 2 inch seat belt webbing, 3 inches of 2 inch wide velcro and a 2 inch buckle.

Am I going to die? :D

to me a simpler solution is just wrap a >= 4mm bunjee around a lead
  • I never lost a lead like that, even with quite a few experiences with that, particularly on sidemount rigs and caves
  • I trust more bunjees than a plastic buckle
  • Elasticity is better than webbing
  • Cheaper, easier...
Hope it helps :)

Hot damn!!

What's your point of doing it this way? Saving money?
The point is just doing it. Saving money happens to be a side effect but it's not the goal. I used to wear a rubber weight belt but the buckle came off on my last dive (operator error) so I made some "pockets".
