Anyone attending the Turkey Dive/BBQ by The Dive Shop (Fairfax, VA) at 10am at Millbrook on Sunday 11/14/04. Location at Millbrook is near the Pavillion at Beach 2. For more info on the Turkey Dive contact The Dive Shop at (703) 698-7220 or website (http://www.thediveshop-va.com/). I am already signed up for the event.

The last day at Millbrook will be Sunday 11/21/04. Will anyone be diving that day?

Thanks for the heads up. Hoping to have my new equipment in by then, that would be a perfect time to check it out. If it comes in, I will be there.

Hi Pedro,

I can't make it on the 14th, but I would be interested on diving on the 21st.

Hey Seawitch, do you have a drysuit? With the way the weather has been the last 2 days, it may be needed! :)

Pedro, I got my gear in today, so I should be good for the BBQ. Going by Thurs to pick up my ticket.

And also willing to go the next weekend too, Volky, if you need a buddy. The more I dive, the more I learn! ;)

Hiya, Don!!!

No drysuit. I will have to rough this one, :). I dove Millbrook two weekends ago and it was not too cold. I was told that this quarry reaches it's warmest temperatures this time of year. Hopefully, it will hold up until next weekend.

Have a great time at the BBQ, and break in that gear!!!! :eyebrow:

As long as you stay relatively shallow it won't be too bad. The problem is getting out...

I was there last weekend (Nov 6-7) and it wasn't bad until the thermocline which was at about 45 feet. In a 7mm wetsuit it was chilly below the thermocline. It was sunny and 60s so the surface wasn't bad either.

All,

The weatherman says it will be sunny and in the upper 40's for a high on Sunday for the Turkey Dive/BBQ. The water will be warmer than the outside temp. They should have the fire going at Millbrook, so we can all keep warm.

Sounds great Miss Volky aka Seawitch2. Who knows it can be in the 60's or 40's on the 21st but I will still say goodbye to Millbrook with a couple of dives. I am sure the local dives shops will have a season ending party. I will try and locate the good folks of Virginia Scuba (http://www.vascuba.com/) who taught me OW, AOW, and Nitrox. What time do you want to meet at Millbrook? I was thinking around 10am.

Don,

I will see you on Sunday by the Pavillion, Beach 2 at 10am. Hopefully they will have the fire going to keep everyone warm between dives. A 7mm with hood should keep you comfortable until you hit the second thermocline. I don't know if the water temperature has inverted yet with the colder water near the surface and warmer at the bottom. We can practice bouyancy and have fun going through the space station (PVC pipe L shaped-structure used to simulate going through a wreck). There are a few boats, a plane at 60ft, an RV at 80ft, and the school bus at around 40ft. We will keep it to your level and our comfort level for temp.

See you Sunday

Pedro
