Miflex HP hose with Highland SPG

Greetings all, I just purchased a Miflex HP hose and a Highland SPG. I have a question if someone could help. I haven't put together this combination before and I find that Miflex hose connector seems to bottom out on the SPG threaded nipple leaving a bit of play on the hose connector. I assume the spool with the orings that is inserted into the SPG nipple is what actually makes the seal and that when the tank pressure is opened the little bit of play in the hose connector will disappear.

Do I have this right?
