I am going to replace my wife's hoses with Miflex and since they come in 26" and 30" - I am trying to decide which length to purchase. I would like to get the shorter hose to reduce the large loop, but I have concerns that the 26" might be a problem.

I have tried to talk her into going to a long hose arrangement - but she tried mine and does not like it.

Her current 2nd has a 30" rubber hose and I was wondering if replacing it with a 26" Milflex would be OK or would it be too short and pull on her mouth?

26" is fine. shorter is better if you are wanting to reduce the loop. I think I've got my octo on a 20" (slung on a necklace)

When I "went Miflex", I started to get a shorter hose, but eventually went longer.

I wanted to reduce the large loop as I'd had a problem with it.

I got I think a 50" hose and brought it down under my arm, around my neck and coming in from behind my head. a 90 degree elbow makes this very trimline.

I use Miflex myself - a 5 ft Primary (with a 120deg elbow) and 24" bungied octo and I am very happy with the set-up - but my wife will not dive that configuration - she says that since most divers put their octo in the "Triangle" that is the way she wants to dive (sort of like trying to get her to switch to a BPW). I have let her try my configuration when I am diving my Double Hose, but she says that she is just more comfortable with a standard set-up - she does not want to have to switch out the reg in her mouth in the event of an OOA situation. I won the battle of getting rid of the console and going to a computer and SPG - I'm not going to push my luck on this issue - since the outcome could be loosing a great dive buddy - going to give her what she wants, just with Milflex hoses.

Thanks all for your input - buying her a 26" primary hose and 40" octo hose.
