Hi All,

Will make a trip to catch up with relatives mid October, and stay around Noosa area for a week or so. Last time in Australia, we dived out of Noosa, and took a flight to Lady Elliot and dived there for 3 days, but I'm looking I'm looking for some (cheaper) alternatives, so we can get at least 2 or 3 days of diving off the GBR again, without spending a fortune ?

If driving to Bundaberg -

- Is there a dive Op that has a regular (daily ?) boat heading out to Lady Musgrave island for a day diving - or would it be better doing a liveaboard ?

- I've found a couple of links for liveaboards for scuba diving great barier reef - liveaboard diving - padi australia - scubadiving Lady Musgrave - Home, Sunreef Scuba Diving - Padi Dive School | Wreck Diving | HMAS Brisbane | Scuba Dive Trips - but am after pointers from anyone who has recently been on a liveaboard from Bundaberg ? best deals ?

- Is diving around Lady Elliot limited to the dive centre on that island, or do dive ops in Bundaberg head out to Lady Elliot on day trips ?

- How's about diving from Hervey bay, or North of Fraser island ? North of Fraser on maps there seems to be shallow reefs, anyone dived there ?

Have googled, searched and read stuff all over the place, but a couple of pointers from anyone recently diving the area appreciated.

Thanks

Never heard of any dive places in Bundaberg and highly unlikely to get live aboards.

Not a Reef tourist destination. Thats probably why you are not getting any replies.

Lady elliot - pretty much yes its limited to there. Its pretty far away. Too long to head out for a day trip.
There's a lot of bitey sharks of fraser island, wouldn't catch me diving around there! don't know that there are any reefs.
Lady elliot is awesome! It would be more affordable if they would let strangers share the eco-tents. But solo travelling there is ridiculously expensive.

There is a liveaboard that very occasionally does trip to Lady Elliot and surrounds. Big Cat reality i think its called.

Cheers guys,

Had contact with a couple of dive ops in Bundaberg, with prices etc for day trips to local Bundi reefs and Lady Musgrave, but also am told mid Oct I'd be looking at water temp around 21~22 C ... think I'd freeze in that as am more used to luke warm 26~28 !!

MA - Lady Elliot, yep last year with buddy we flew to island and stayed the Eco huts, not cheap. Fraser - really ? ... thanks for the advise.

Aquapro - will check out your website, and if we arrange to fly in or out of Oz via Cairns, maybe it would be a better option. Have made reservation for flights in and out of Brisbane, so it's back to the drawing board.

Cheers
