This accident is strange but not that uncommon. The theories presented are even more strange (to me). I would urge that the gas be tested. It sounds like he had an O2 seizure, epilepsy or heart attack. You may recall that British doctor who has posted on SB for a couple years who had a similar episode, a blackout, but at shallower depth. He survived, just. In 1992, my friend, the Navy's Supervisor of Diving, died in a similar incident off Panama City. He was using mixed gas. The gas in his tanks was 'inadvertantly' drained before it could be tested.
