Hi guys I'm planning to cave dive in Mexico around Tulum (Oct) , this will be my 2nd trip here last time we stayed at Rob's Xibalba Dive Center this time we want to stay in a house looking to stay for 8 days would like some infor on where to stay any place you guys know that regularly vist?

I don’t know when was the last time you visited Tulum, but I try to avoid it these days. It has exploded in popularity, and I can’t imagine what rentals are like there. Traffic has gotten pretty crazy too.

I usually stay in Puerto Aventuras because it’s easy and convenient to where I dive, and it’s pleasant-in-a-built-up way, but there are several places heading down the coast between PA and Tulum that I think would be nice to stay. It depends what you’re looking for. Akumal, Chemuyil are two possibilities.

Tulum isn’t as awful as halocline says. There is still a ton of very affordable places to stay. Yes, traffic towards the beaches is much worse than it was. I would not stay any closer to the beach than the Aldea Zama subdivision. I have stayed in that area for years and it has gotten harder to get in and out of the community but they’ve installed lights which help a lot. It’s not like it was 10 years ago but it’s still not awful. Tons of food options, and do yourself a favor and find don taco’s tamale stand the night before a dive. Throw it on your dash when you head into the dive and when you come out you’ll have an awesome hot lunch. Nothing wrong with PA but still like Tulum after almost 15 years of going. It’s familiar, I know where all the things I need are, and I enjoy it. Grocery shopping can be annoying.
