I have a Tesoro Silver Saber Plus that does a pretty good job on coins. It's certainly more skilled than I am at this point.

I've been thinking along the line of the Excalibur 800 or 1000.

I have just baught a Minelab Excalibur 1000 on Ebay for $700, can't wait to receive it. The lakes up here froze over a week ago so I won't get a chance to test it underwater till next spring. I will be playing with it though as soon as it arrives.
