Hello,
I bought the Meridian watch/Dive Computer and also the Cradle to download data. It's never been able to actually connect the software and the watch as there is a constant "Watch Must be Connected " . Tested on Mac and PC but neither will connect. Blue LED shows on the cradle when the watch is properly inserted but still a no-go. The software looks kind of archaic where it is asking for a serial port selection...when the product uses USB and do any computers even use serial ports these days....

Just checking if anyone has been able to successfully connect the software to the watch?

Details

Software: Scubapro LogTrak 1.0.0.3

Step 1 connect watch to Cradle. Audible beep heard from watch.
Step 2 Launch ScubaPro software. Extras/Read dive computer settings
Error: "The Dive Computer must be connected!"
Step 3 Options/Download/ Select Serial Port (No options in select list).
Step 4 Try Dive/Download Dives/
Error: "The Dive Computer must be connected!"
Error: "Connection Failed"

Blue LED lit on cradle showing USB power. Tried unplugging and repluggin in with no changes to the problem.

Also Contacted ScubaPro Tech Support via their website 3-4 weeks back and never heard from them. Thinking either no one else has bought this product with the cradle or maybe I'm a beta tester and they forgot to include that memo with my order

Original tests above on a Mac , operating system Mountain Lion.

Just tested on a PC running windows 8 with the same results, though an audible beep is heard when disconnecting the USB cord, no blue LED was lit prior...

When connecting the Meridian through the cradle, the COMport must be selected in the download program. Follow this path to see which port has been used by the cradle: Start>control panel>hardware and sound, under devices an printers, select the device manager and open the port line. The cradle is shown as:Silicon Labs CP210x USB to UART Bridge (COMx).

Thanks for the reply but my primary computer is a Mac. While I have tested on a PC, as noted above, i'd still prefer to use my Mac.

Also I've returned the watch and cradle to my local dive shop and they are going to do some additional testing. I'll report back on what they find. In the mean time, if you have details on this working on a Apple computer that would be appreceated.

I have had no problems connecting the watch to the computer on Mountain Lion. I do not have the cradle to hand right now but will double check later

Cheers
Rich

Well that is encouraging... Maybe just a bad Watch or Cradle. Hopefully the dive shop can determine which one as I like the watch/dive computer.

I've been told there is an additional driver required:

SCUBAPRO - Meridian

Interface Driver... I'll give that a shot after I get the watch back from the Dive Shop.

Hi,

I was able to connect the Meridian to my Mac but I was wondering if anyone knows how to save the dives to the computer. I can just view the logged dives but when I remove the watch, the logs also disappear.

Thanks!

This may be a bit late but hopefully it helps someone. For the cradle to communicate with the Mac you may need to install the VCP drivers from silicon Labs. These drivers create a virtual COM port bridge to the USB interface. The drivers can presently be downloaded here: http://www.silabs.com/Support Documents/Software/Mac_OSX_VCP_Driver.zip

Install these drivers, you will be required to reboot and then your logtrack software should recognize the USB cradle. If you go into "logtrack - options - download" you should see that this bridge is installed "/dev/tty.SLAB_USBtoUART" in the com port drop down. The implementation is a bit "kludgy" but it works...

Scubapro, Your swiss dev team really needs to clean this up!

Hi Mictrik,

Are you using a Mac or a PC? Were you able to save the logs to your computer even without the dive computer connected?

Thanks,
Louie
