I'm a Fish!
I know most Cave divers go to the Mainland to go cave diving. I had some experience diving in the caves of Cozumel so I booked a couple of dives on the island with Deep Exposure. It happened that the guide they hired was my Cave Instructor German Yanez. We dove Aerolito for the first dive. It was the second dive that was memorable.

The second dive was done at "1 Klick" . We had to trudge through the jungle to get to the actual cenote. What made this a memorable dive was seeing the Mayan pottery in the cave. I also got to see a live "Remipedia". What is it? It is a unique primitive crustacean that is found in low-oxygen, brackish water caves. German knew all about it because of his background as a research diver for the University of Mexico.

Unlike the most of the caves that I have dove in Florida, the line arrows do not have the distance of the exit marked on the line arrows, so I don't know how far in we were. It the excitement I never got that information from German.

When I go back to Cozumel, I will always go diving in the caves too

I think my husband may be doing some diving in the caves on Coz at the end of this month . . . He's going to go on to do Full Cave with German during this trip.

I always thought that getting cave certified would be a good option for traveling to this part of Mexico in the winter. I have weathered out on "Nortes" on a regular basis so I took my 'Intro to Cave" in Florida. and finished off my "Full Cave" with German in Cozumel. German is the expert on the cave on the island. He knows where everything is because he is the lead cave explorer on the island.

Tell your husband that when he does the swim test in Aerolito Cenote, that he doesn't have to go the embarassing situation like I had to go through. I had to do it with 100 bicycle tourists watching me in my skimpy speedo.

Good luck!
Jim
