It's a Chinese brand (Benro)carbon fiber tripod... let's say it's a lot cheaper than the major european high end brands... The ball head isn't that bad... It's a knock-off a the Arca Swiss B-1 ball head design.

the tripod w/o head is about 3.6lb. Only 1lb lighter than the aluminum equivalent. I thought about doing some more trekking/ hiking around here so any weight savings is a plus...

Jam - it's a knock-off, not an exact copy... just hope it doesn't fall apart with my camera on top!!!
