My HP has a Lexar 128 mb Compact flash card is that the same as the Smart media card I see listed for the C-4040 ? BTW thanks all for the suggestions it looks like Broadway Photo has the best deal at $479 and UW digital at 250 for the Pt-10.

Congratulations on the move to digital. If you haven't bought already, you should look at www.pricetool.com . That's where I found the best deal on my C-3020. They have several stores linked to them and they list them by price, review, etc. The price at uwdigital is a good price and they are highly recommended by most of us here. Good luck in your search!

As far as the flash card, Bestbuy is having a sale right now on 128mb for about $60. Happy hunting!!

smartmedia is different from compact flash

The Compact Flash cards that your HP uses is different than the Smart Media cards used by Olympus. Some of the newer digital cameras are accepting both kinds of card but they're in the high price range.

You can get a card reader that will accept both CP and SM in order to use it for both.

Don't base flash memory purchases soley on price - different brands have different performance and write speeds. Probably not an issue for underwater photography, but it can make a difference in land based photography when taking mutliple shots in quick succession. Here's a comparative review:

All I could find was a comparison of CF cards. Is there also one for SmartMedia cards?
