Me 17, and my Dad 50 will be going on our first scuba course. As i am probably going to be younger than everyone else in the group what should i expect. I am alittle nervouse though. When you have the regulator in your mouth what does it feel like etc. What other things am i going to expect in our first course.

We are doing it at Sutherland Leasure Centre in Sydney, NSW. If anyone has done a course their could you also tell us what it is like?

I actually found breathing UW to be very natural- most people breath thru their mouth anyway & 2ndly, you can never hold your breath UW which is natural ie no one sits around doing that.......So, in my case, it was all natural........Enjoy it all, you'll love it......

My 16yr old son and I did our open-water training together last Nov/Dec. One thing I recommend, more for your dad's benefit than for yours. Take the training and feedback seriously -- I have no reason to think you won't. But that first dive after you're certified, your dad is going to be concentrating nearly as much as your safety as on his and might not pay much attention to the dive. I trust my son's training and education, but if you dad is anything like me, the realization that you are taking your child 40-50ft under water, is a very sobering experience. Showing your dad that you as self-sufficient as any new diver is a nice little gift as I'm sure he will be worried enough.

All i would like is an online video demonstrating what is involved.
Thanks in advance

Are you getting PADI certified? If so, there will be a DVD that comes with your books that shows you much of what's involved.

We had a boy and a girl your age in our cert class. They held their own with everyone else. You'll be fine.
Good-Luck to you both.
