I just found this board, it's great! My wife and I got into diving two years ago and can't get enough!

However, I'm posting about Something Bad (I promise Good Things and pictures later on...)

We gave our regs to a scuba shop in NYC for service, and they've disappeared (Seahorse Divers). They were moving their west side operation to the east side, and we go to the East to find 'em gone! Empty storefront. They haven't called or contacted us, all the phones are off and nobody's answering e-mails.

I find it hard to believe they took it and ran, the owner wasn't exactly unknown in the community and didn't seem the type.

Does anyone know what happened to them? All we have left are BCs and fins :(

Thanks
Frank & Jen

Oh man that is just not right. I wish I could help but don't know them. I am sure someone on this board does though. Hope everything turns out for you and welcome to the board.

Howdy!

Welcome to SB!!
:happywave Put us in your computer's favorites and check in often. This is a great place to learn, compare, argue :argue: Look around our various forums - everything from New-To-Scuba to Instructors-Only to Dive Medicine.

Tough luck on the disappearance. Hope you find them and your regs okay!

BTW - it would really help in future discussion if you'd complete your Profile. Click "User CP" upper left of this page, then go down to "Edit Profile."

:D

have you tried checking with the City? or Chamber of Commerce. They should have a business record with the owners name. That might help.

Thanks everyone, update is: I know the owner's name, but unfortunately, all his public records have the store's phone numbers (Department of State corp records, NetSol domain registration, etc., ain't the Internet great?). I tried a couple more e-mails I found along the way. PADI offered to act as go-between if any of their contact info is more accurate. He isn't listed in the phone book, but I do have an address to send a letter. I think that's the best route to go first until I can get a better picture of the circumstances.

Update again: they moved the operation to Florida, in case anyone's wondering. We didn't get notified or anything, there was a broadcast e-mail, I guess we weren't on the list. Anyway, while we haven't gotten in touch with him, at least we know where the stuff will end up. Thanks for all the help & good wishes...
