Learn to dive CCR - get comfortable and then take the CCR cave cert class. Regardless of being in MX or not. Learning buoyancy on CCR (all over again) will take time. And learning cave on CCR with from an instructor that can reteach techniques to help not stir up silt or hit fragile stuff will be super important.
Thanks for the advice

Total 4 hours a day usually so I expect 50 hours not to take that long.
FYI, most agencies have a dive count requirement as well, to ensure a minimum number of ascents (arguably the most difficult phase) and to ingrain pre-dive checks, etc. Doing 75x 40-minute dives is better than 25x 2-hr dives both from a repetition standpoint as well as a reflection/analysis standpoint.

One of the most helpful things for me was @oya's Leapfrog Ascent drill/game.

Good luck with the training!

Appreciate the link.

I feel like I will be doing longer than 40 minute dives on the CCR but that could not be the case.

How long did it take you to feel semi-comfortable ?

Not long at all (perhaps less than 10 dives/hrs), but even comfortable is only at the "Conscious Competence" level of learning. That likely doesn't leave sufficient bandwidth to handle any additional issues that arise.

You will probably step back a couple learning levels on cave specific things when starting a cave class. You need your CCR abilities at the top-tier Unconscious Competence level to allow attention to those cave-specific tasks.

IMHO, if you are OC cave, then 50 hrs/dives before cave CCR might be OK. If no cave experience, likely 50 hrs on the loop is woefully short for CCR cave. Again, just an opinion.

appreciate the perspective thanks.

Wet dream, reappearing river, devils bath and some other vancouver island caves.
I haved dived in mexico solo many times on OC but have never organised a trip all myself.
1) You're cavern trained...
2) You clearly have never been cave diving in the Rivera Maya before on OC or otherwise or you'd know the answers to your questions already.
3) And like I said, these are nothing like Mexico.

Just take your MOD1 and build your CCR hours. Also get intro and full cave.

I looked at Devils’s bath 3 weeks ago trying to decide how to dive it. Can you tell me how you planned it? My son can help me. Comparing site assessment and plan would help me so much thanks.
