Thinking about buying one of these to put in our trailer. Does anyone have any experience with them? Also, is their anything additional we would need to start filling our own bottles?

only big thing is to make sure you run an oversized diameter, long length exhaust to keep it away from the exhaust fumes.

minor thing is to make sure you understand that it is not a continuous duty compressor. I don't know what the duty cycle is, but 2 hours on, 1 hour off is about right.

It charges at right around 3cfm, so you can pump about 4 al80's before having to let it rest for an hour. If charging high pressure steels, I'd only go 2 at a time because of the extra heat created by running at the high pressures

That is just one of the Coltri compressors with their own label on them. It is designed for filling single scuba tanks but can be hooked to a maximum of two 3000 psi 80s. NEVER hook it up to a bulk bottle or else you will end up eating the bearings. It will also need to have plenty of ventilation to allow for cooling so, if that trailer is closed, run the compressor NEXT to it ... not in it. The compressor will come with an inlet hose to allow taking a suction away from the gas engine exhaust. However, for filling your own single cylinders, a $2900 compressor can't be beat and it is truly one of the most portable systems available.

Well I am going to pick one of these up! Also going to order a few extra filters. As far as the lubricating oil.... how often is the oil needing to be replaced/changed? I am getting the 115V single phase electric. Not asking about the gas engine oil. Also.... will this compressor easily handle filling a twinset of HP120's? no sense in buying the compressor if I still have to haul the big doubles from the marina up to land and into town for a fill

That is actually the MCH6 Coltri with a private label on it. A GREAT little $2900 machine!

The first oil change should be done at five hours and then every 25 hours or annually after that ... whichever comes first. Make sure you get an hour meter.

Since you are going with the 115V, it will have a huge amperage draw so the automatic shutdown won't be an option for you. However, I do have a DIY automatic drain kit for that compressor for $399 that you can put on easily as long as you are handy with a wrench. With double 120s, you will definitely appreciate it. I am a big fan of compressors that operate independently and may not be diver proof but are definitely idiot proof.:D

So just to confirm.... Yes, it will easily handle the HP 120 doubles without destroying it correct? I am definitely interested in the auto drain set up. So when I get it I will be hitting you up for the kit. It does come with the hour meter so I am good there. Damn, I wish it did have the auto shut down however. I pay flat rate electric at the marina so the 115v single phase was a no brainer. Why pay for gas when electric is free. And my genset on the House boat is an 18k so it will easily handle it when we are out in the back of the lake. Any other options or accessories you recommend to look for? It will only be used for my wife and myself own personal use. I figure just gas alone into town and back (not counting wear and tear on the truck, my back hauling them up from the marina and time) I will have made my money back in just under a year. Roughly 380 dives....

Does your boat have 220 available? That would mean the compressor would run at lower amperage and would allow the use of a pressure switch to shut off the compressor at a set pressure.

The stock setup may not allow for the a cutoff switch, but there is no reason you can't put one on there that controls a relay for the cutoff. Not uncommon for a lot of other applications

While it is true that it is possible, it would require installing motor controller circuitry since the 115 version does not a motor starter system.
