Novice divers planning trip to Maui Feb. 07. How is the diving that time of year? Weather, water temp, vis etc.

Water will be in the mid 70's on Maui most likely. Vis will be decent unless a strom heads Maui's way.

Go out with B&B Scuba and you'll have a blast.

February is about our coldest month diving - it dropped to 73 this year and will most likely start warming up again soon.

Vis for shore diving (assuming no recent storms) runs 30-100ft depending on locale, currents etc..

Blackrock is a very nice first night dive if you have the time.

I'd second B&B, especially for new divers - they are a great crew.

Aloha, Tim

I'm a novice diver who went diving in Maui this past Feb. Had a great time with Mike Severns (Molokini) and Extended Horizons (Lanai, Cathedrals) Didn't get cold, great vis, tons of whales. Going back pretty much every February from now on since we bought a timeshare there. Kids love the whales and the coldest day diving in Maui is about the same as the warmest water here in the OC.

Thanks for the info. Is a 3m full suit enough?
Joanne

That depends on your personal cold tolerance and how much you're planning to dive.

We're leaving for Maui in just over 2 weeks :D :D :D and I'm diving in my 5mil full suit. We're planning to dive each morning of our 4 available dive days, and I know that although I'd be fine for the first 2 days in a 3mil in 74 degree water, days 3 and 4 I'd be getting cold during the second tank for sure. My husband will dive in his 3mil and we'll both be totally comfortable.
