Malu spots
Guest
Aloha to the locals and hello to everyone on the mainland. My wife and I have been diving for years and have just discovered this site while our regs. are in for service, otherwise we would be in the water. We regularly dive on Friday nights or Saturday day and/or night, but anything can happen. As of the time of this posting, Lobster season is approaching and I am perfecting a DIY snare using PVC pipe and a few yet-to-be discovered items (almost all available from the local hardware store). You-tube is a good source for beginnar/novice hunting techniques. I am really hoping I can get a Malu spot from one of the respected elders. I know of a few honey pots, but all shore access is stopped by grumbling locals and I cant afford the boats everytime we want to try a lobster receipe. The wife and I dive Pono, leave no mess and we share the catch with the access grantor (if we are hunting).
Send a post our way if you need a dive buddy. Or know of a cherry dive spot.
My wife is O.W.C.. I am A.O.W., Nav., Night, E.A.N. and Rescue. Currently hacking away at D.M. (kinda stuck on physics but making slow progress).
We own all of our own gear and we are insured through DAN. Love to see someone dive with insurance, its so cheap.
We love MDDC and have been using their company since we found it. We live in Kihei and have spent about 75% of our bottom time between La Perouse and Oluwalu. At time of posting I intend to freedive/snorkel Uaoa bay and/or Pilale bay on the North side a.s.a.p. to see if access is available and conditions are right to subsequently dive them for lobster when the season starts.
Mahalo Nui to all that can help a pair of local divers find some sweet spots and welcome to all that would join us on a dive. Aloha.
